Experiment

Before my yellow rose  finally died, we made a little experiment, we put  some food color to the   water in the flower vase.  Since the flower is old, it didn't do much colors on the petals but the anthers has colors in them. Some of the petals fell off when I tried to move the vase.
There are some colors on the petals but not much.
I never did this kind  of experiment in school so I didn't know, thanks to hubby for  sharing the idea.
Have a lovely day everyone.

  1. The petals of the flower have a warm light yellow hue. It seems to be of spring, awaiting to be picked along with its stem to be a loving gift to a special person...

  2. First time I ever heard about that kind of experiment. Normally we just press the petals in a book to preserve it. You really love that yellow rose to have thought of prolonging its stay in your life, lol. Thanks for the experimental post. God bless you all always.

  3. Oh, yes, if you do this when the flower is freshly cut, it will take up lots of color. White flowers work best. White carnations are often colored blue, using this method.

  6. I once did that to my water plant, I added food color too on the glass vase, just to make it looked different, the water became clearer as days pass, then I thought maybe the plant sipped the color. lol..

  10. Nice try, it works better with some flowers than others.
Fleshy stemmed flowers take up colour better than woody ones like roses.

  19. It had a little specs of green in the petals of the flower. I have also learned something from a friend of mine on how to keep your plants to last a little bit longer. You mix a little bit of sugar and chlorox or chlorine in the water before you put the flower in the vase. The sugar acts as the food for the plants and the chlorox to fight the bacteria that makes it decay faster. This will preserve the flowers or plants in the vase a little bit longer. :)

  26. We used to pick Queen Anne's Lace and add food color to the water. It would take on the hue.
