Explorer in Pittsburgh River

I will never get tired of taking photos of the view of Pittsburgh River. There are so many elements that makes the river captivating.  The tall buildings, the bridges, big stadiums  and other  things.
This Explorer  was located adjacent to  the USS Requinn submarine, an attraction feature at Carnegie Science Center.
We did not get to go inside this explorer but we had so much fun exploring inside the submarine.  More photos to come next time.

Allegheny Avenue, Pittsburgh PA

Even with our GPS, we sometimes get lost when we have to go somewhere that is new to us. We have never been to Carnegie Science Center before so with our luck has it, our GPS took us to a different route and we missed our exit wahhh. But, being lost is not bad as we get to see different views. As my husband navigates to the right track, I kept myself busy taking photos. Here is another side of Pittsburgh that we have never been to until yesterday.
The Carnegie Science Center is  located in the Chateau neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which was opened in 1991. I hope you enjoy this short tour.

Ultimate Survival Alaska

Oh how I wish I could find a n affordable provider for Cable, Internet, and phone because right now, our bill is  so  is getting  so expensive when combined.  One  of the features that my husband  loves about the  Satellite  connection that we have is the  availability of the on-demand movies, television programs, music, sporting events, and the fact that you can record the shows that you want to watch later on.  I think that all of these are available also with   Time Warner Cable at a lesser price.  The only problem is that, their services is not offered in the area where I live.  I think that the Time Warner triple play is one great deal.  Lucky are those who can avail for their services as they can really save money on three package deal that  they have.

On the other note, we watched the final episode of the  Ultimate Survival Alaska from National Geographic Channel.  The show is about  four teams of survivalists from across the nation who went head to head in an  epic arctic competition where they were dropped in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness by a bush planes.  They have to navigate through the most treacherous glaciated river valleys, barren ridgelines, and high mountain peaks.  The four teams  were:

  • woodsmen
  • mountaineers
  • military veterans
  • endurance athletes
The teams die-hard ingenuity and the gear on their backs they were able to  battle hunger, hostile predators, and perilous weather conditions along the way. They faced  near-death situations but they managed to get through it all.  Some were  disqualified due to injuries  but it was really a really good show to watch.  We were  rooting for the military veterans to win but because one of their  team member was  disqualified, it was hard for them to get  back to their winning streak. The endurance athletes ended up winning.  I admire all the  survivalists ingenuity, their  well-fought pride of having conquered the grueling challenges that Mother Nature can throw at them is very compelling. It was  an epic competition series where the only prize is survival.  Here is a photo of our favorite team, the Military Veterans.

Must Have Tools for Your Garage

If you’re a handyman or handywoman, it’s important that you have a good stock of tools in your garage. Running out of something, or not having what you need when you need it most can be one of the most annoying things in the world. Be sure to stay stocked up on bits and pieces, and that you have the latest tools ready for use in your garage.

Basics

You can never have enough of the basics, as you never know when you’re going to need them. Random little bits and pieces like screws, nails and bits of wire can come in handy more often than you would believe. Whenever something breaks you’re going to head straight for your collection of bits and pieces, so try and keep it stocked as much as you can.

Electric Saw

This is one of the most important things you can have. If you’re into DIY, a lot of the work you’re going to be doing is going to involve cutting things up. You can do things the old-fashioned way with a handheld saw, but that takes up a lot of time and can be strenuous on your body as well. An electric saw makes the process so much quicker and easier. You can cut through things that could take hours, or be near to impossible with a regular saw.

Electric Screwdrivers

Similarly, it’s important that you have a good range of electric screwdrivers. If you’re building something, or putting together some furniture, there are going to be a lot of screws that need to be put in place. Doing this by hand could take hours – days even. But if you have an electric screwdriver, preferably one with different attachments, you can have it done in no time. And the faster it’s done, the sooner you can move on to the next step.

Sander

Another important tool for any DIY project is an electric sander. All that cutting with your electric saw is going to mean that the wood needs to be sanded down before it can be painted or polished. An electric sander is by far the way to go, otherwise, with sanding paper, you could be sitting there for hours – not to mention the effect it could have on your skin. Make sure that you’ve got one of these if you plan on building anything with wood.

When keeping your garage full of the right tools and equipment, one of the most important things to check is that your tools are still in date. Once, regular saws and screwdrivers would have been the norm. But now, we can purchase electrical variations of these products, meaning that our projects take only a portion of the time that they did beforehand. If you’re a handyman, or interested in starting your own DIY projects, you can find an array of essential tools at http://www.welding.com.au .

Winter Olympics in Suchi

I know it's late now to talk about the recently concluded Winter Olympics in Suchi but hey, I just have now the chance to talk about it so sit tight lol.  Anyway, I did not  watch all of the events, in fact I only watch the  figure skating.  There is something in figure  skating that is very captivating and I will never get tired of watching it.
One of my favorite performances was of Mao Asada from Japan.  She delivered a very  emotional and beautiful performance during the free skate.  She  did not win  an olympic medal but she earned my respect.  She is one talented lady.

Record Player

I love the look of this danelectro amplifier I  found online, it looks vintage.  Looking at it makes you feel like you were in the 70's to 80's era of music. I remember back in the day, my paternal grandparents used to have a record player.  Every time there is an occasion they would play different kinds of  hit songs.  Oh those were the days.  I don't think there is  still record player these days.  Is there?

Quitting

Have you ever tried  to quit smoking and fail?  With the  price of cigarettes these days, I wonder how   there are still many people who smoke.  I know that it is not my  business but  when you think about it, it is not healthy and it is  ridiculously expensive.  I understand though how hard it would  be to  quit, but it is  possible.
I took these photos inside   Doquesne University campus while we were waiting for our daughter's   music session to be over.

Personal Injury

During weekends, hubby and I love watching  Investigation Discovery channel on TV.  It is a tv series that features documentary style programming  dealing with true crime  subjects.  Today, one of the cases  we watched was  about this  rich  personal injury lawyer who mysteriously vanished and later on found  buried in a vineyard.  The wife later on confessed of killing  her husband  and she committed  suicide inside the  correctional after the conviction.  History like this is very sad, the greed of money always cost life/s.

On the other note, if you ever need a personal injury lawyer, you might want to check out  communitylegalservice.net first  for their  options.  It is good to know that if you win a settlement money for a personal injury  case, that money is not taxable.  You can also claim your legal fees as deductible when you  file your taxes.  Community Legal services also includes family-matter cases and bankruptcy.  When it comes to legal matters like the ones I mentioned, it is best to  seek  the advise and help of professionals who  really help people who are in need.

Sugarcreek Roadtrips

It's been a while since we last visited Sugarcreek.  We used to go there almost every weekend just so we can drive around and see other ...
