Reward System

I did a reward system for my Burritos last year and it certainly went well. Every good deed and sweet gesture were rewarded. Some would say that this is isn't effective because it is like a form of bribe but for me it is not.  It's my way of teaching my kids that in every action you make in life, there is always consequences to it, either good or bad.
This year, we start anew.  For every sticker that they receive, they get 10 cents for each.  It isn't much   but if they are zealous enough in helping around the house and continue to do good in school , they will accumulate a lot.  I gave them the choice to  spend their earnings  last month but they chose to  put it in their savings, their "Adult Money" as Ms. Burrito refers to.  This is a fun reward system  for my kids, you might want to try it too.

  1. Rose,

You constantly impress me with your parenting skills. You are indeed SUPER MOM. Don't let anyone tell you anything else.

I speak with authority as I have two children and seven grandchildren, and they are all good, good people.

    Happy Blue Monday!

  3. A very clever idea! It is good to give children a goal and give them the opportunity to understand just what consequences mean! The stickers element gives them a visual reminder!

And thank you so much for linking to my new Monday Mellow Yellows meme!

  5. Rose, I love your reward system. Children need to feel worthy and when they do something worthy a reward gives them self worth. Keep it going.

  9. Never tried the reward system to my kids. what me and hubby usually do is,once they want something like if the little one want to play nickjrgame.com games, he has to finish home work first or do what he is told to do.once he is done then he get his reward.

    1. For me, it's very effective because aside from the reason I gave them, it is also one way of teaching them how to save for future needs.

  12. Reward system works for me, too. At least, the kids have something to look forward to after finishing a task or doing something good and worthwhile.

  17. I'm a believer of this system. This was what my parents did when I was growing up and I willingly did good things and studied harder in school because I know I will be rewarded in the end. I will definitely apply this to my little girl when she's in school already.

  19. I think I'm going to try this with my children. We are planning to have a common fund where we can put all our surplus allowance so we can do something special for the family on December.
